The short answer is that there isn’t any laminate flooring on the market that’s totally scratch proof. It’s just a fact that any flooring material, from natural wood to engineered timber or hybrid flooring, can be damaged. However, there are a few factors that will determine how resistant your laminate is to damage.
The answer is both yes and no. Laminate flooring that’s 8mm with a medium density fibre (MDF) core is used by a lot of big retail stores and builders that work on big-volume projects. It’s essentially a mass-market product and is popular.
Laminate flooring is a material consisting of several layers. Each layer serves a different function, from reducing the echo of footsteps using the backing to a strong, UV-resistant finish on the top.
Among the benefits of laminate flooring is its durability. Our laminate uses a scale of hardness, with AC3 through to AC5 being the hardest. AC3 is great for domestic use, while AC5 is rated for light commercial use, like foyers or shops floors. This means the laminate we stock can withstand furniture, pets, kids, and heavy foot traffic easily.
